January 4, 2012

It is almost 9pm- we are probably safe from any more spending today, but the eating post may need to be supplemented later.  We are planning on a couple episodes of Dexter tonight, so that means staying up.  Dexter doesn't exactly create appetite, though, so it's probably good.

Kristin ate:

egg sandwich on a bun
emergen-c
1 coffee with cream, topped off.
the last of the new year's mac and cheese, (about a cup_
the last of the christmas crudites, except for the rotten celery.
1 diet coke
about 12 small pretzels
one latte
3 spritz cookies
1 sugar cookie
a little dish of sharon's homemade granola with milk and sugar
3 pieces of papa murphy's (2 veggie delite, 1 big pep and sausage italiano)
1/2 beer.

Kristin spent:

$0.00

AJ ate:

Chocolate Chip Cookie
Handfull of cashews
2 handfuls sharon's homemade granola
1 cup chicken noodle soup (homemade)
6 christmas tree spritz cookies
4 pieces of pizza
1 square of chocolate caramel
1/2 beer
3 cups coffee with cream
1 latte

AJ spent:

$18.00 2 papa murphy's pizza.

Observations-
There are seven pieces of pizza left; we discussed and planned 1 vs 2 pizzas.  We probably could have made do with 1, but it won't be wasted.
We aren't eating enough vegetables.  This is a direct result of the need to consume the holiday leftovers.  In previous years, we would have thrown them away, or the big boys would have been over to eat them up.  Since we are tracking our food and our spending, neither of us wants to be the one to open our wallet and spend something.  I am thinking that next week we might do a homemade pizza or two instead of take-out.  We could do cheaper pizza, but it doesn't seem like read food, does it?  Papa murphy's at least has a thin crust and offers some veggies.
We are going to have to break down this weekend and make a menu for the week.  Also go grocery shopping.  I'm afraid that some money will be spent.
I am proud that we have avoided eating out and takeout until tonight.  All credit for cooking (since school started again) goes to AJ.  By the time I get home, I can barely move.
